Resource Sites
As many know there are several resource sites associated with GW. Ofc this one =D, wartower, and the wikis to name a few. Recently I have had an encounter, if u will, with an admin of PvX. I was met with the most tyranical expression that I have yet to encounter while being part of the GW community. Is this common to PvX? Has it become a hub of elitist bigotry?
I am very happy that Guru has not succome to this additude. TY admins for that. What are some other resouce sites that may be beneficial to those looking for aid? Possibly ones with unbiased admins. |

PvX is pretty bad, on physway deep, an Admin changed my vote to sabotage the build, twice. So much about fairness, admins play god with that website.
Admins on guru are pretty awesome on the other hand. And JR beat me to GuildMag... |

I'm less than impressed with PvX - Half of the PvE "builds" on there consist of 4 or 5 skills with 3 or 4 empty spots for optional skills - even ones they rate as "Excellent." For a new / inexperienced player, finishing out that skill bar could vey easily turn that Excellent build to utter crap, even using the suggested skills given.
I don't know much about the politics over there, but too many people in-game use PvX as the be-all, end-all of GW build ratings and can't recognize a good/excellent build unless they've seen it on the wiki. I can't help but to think that the admins there are aware of that. (oooohhhh the power!) |

It's what happens when you give people the authority to interpret rules and guidelines at their own discretion and pretend as though those interpretations are somehow representative of the community at large. It's also not about being fair it's about being right and wrong even when those concepts are irrelevant.
This happens in the real world too, it's called the government. |

Even in AB I use a none PvX assassin build, once I got seperated from my team and was cut off by 5 kurzicks, 3 warriors, 1 dervish and 1 ranger. I beat all 5 in the fight and they call me a noob for using a self design build instead of the PvX PvP assassin build...........lmao I looked at the build after the battle and if I would have used that build they would have ripped me to shreds. |

Well PvX is a wiki after all...
It doesn't matter if people post bad builds or say something stupid here. Because someone will inevitably come say "bad build is bad" or "hey what you said is stupid, stupid." On a wiki things are presented in a different way. Also many people on PvX suffer from a very deadly strain of Unwarranted Self Importance That's bullshit. I've been pugging all kinds of things in WiK and no ones bitched at me or anyone else for not running shit on PvX. |

Pvx it seems is going downhill - even with anets nerfs in last year the amount of new builds is pitifull.Unless either gw has died totally or very few people are sharing via pvx - probably more builds have been on guru in last month than pvx ( dont quote me ).
Why its gone downhill i cant say - could be pvx staff problems as op hints at or something else - just a shame to see what almost became a great site for builds change into a forgotten archive. |

Slightly off topic, but I see this as more of a reason to celebrate guru. Ty to the good folks of guru.

Of course, guildwarsguru is the best ever, but for a list (hopefully without broken links) of fansites here is the page on guildwars.com

Agree with GuildMag, their July magazine issue was pretty awesome, just wish I had a better pc to deal with .pdf, but it was really well put together.
Cannot be said enough times. Barrage, LR and two interrupts is not a frickin' build. It's not a recipe if you write down 4 ingredients to something and list 20 optional ones to finish it off. |

From experience, I can say PvX has quite the ... elitism.

I think a big problem with it is most of the admin there don't care about the player-base of GW, because they don't even play. It's a massive trollfest with some builds on the side.
I think they'd be happier living in Encyclopedia Dramatica |

There's also a site called GWOnline, which I think still exists, but I haven't been there in a long time.
And, speaking a Guru admins - references to other fan sites have been deleted on here in the past, so you may never even see this..... |

You must be getting us confused with other fansites, Quaker. Here on Guru we have never deleted references to other fan sites.
